History of the DepartmentThe Department of Criminal Law and Procedure was created in accordance with the order of the rector of March 17, 2003 No. 37/0 as a structural unit of the Law Institute. The department operates on the basis of the Regulation on the Department of Criminal Law and the process in accordance with the Regulation on the quality management system. The Department of Criminal Law and Process was founded with the aim of organizing and implementing educational and educational-methodical work of criminal law disciplines, educational work among students, research in criminal law, criminal process, forensic science, criminology, training and advanced training of scientific and pedagogical workers. In the 2003-2004 academic year, the department was headed by candidate of juridical sciences, associate professor Viktor Ivanovich Rudnik, in the 2004-2007 academic year - doctor of legal sciences, professor Kudlay Tamara Pavlovna, in the 2007-2008 academic year - K.Yu. N., associate professor Pesotskaya Natalya Nikolaevna, in the academic years 2008-2011 - Ph.D., associate professor Motlyakh Alexander Ivanovich. Since 2011, the head of the department is Doctor of Law, Professor Likhovaya Sofia Yakovlevna. The teaching staff of the department teaches leading legal disciplines that provide fundamental legal knowledge in the field of criminal law, criminal procedural law, penal law, notaries, advocacy, prosecutors, criminalistics, basics of forensic examinations, criminal liability in the field of medicine, criminological crime prevention, combating corruption crimes and misdemeanors, methods of drafting documents in criminal proceedings. The Department of Criminal Law and Procedure provides for the teaching of 30 academic disciplines of the educational qualification level “Bachelor” and “Master”. The department arranges for students to practice law at the La Strada-Ukraine Public Organization, Gunsel LLC, the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine, and the Territorial Administration of the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine in Kiev in accordance with bilateral agreements. Assistance in mastering the legal profession is provided by the teachers of the department when conducting role-playing games in academic disciplines in the Courtroom, created like real courtrooms in the courts of Ukraine.
