January 30, 2014 the students of PR -402 group, accompanied by a mentor Oksana Myronets visited the Museum of Art named after Bogdan and Varvara Khanenko.
The museum is a private collection of patrons Varvara and Bogdan Khanenko, and has long been known as Kyiv Museum of Western and Oriental Art. Today it is the largest treasury of world art in Ukraine, and a unique collection of the museum is well-known far beyond the country. During the excursion, students learned that the museum presents: Art of the Ancient World, European and Eastern countries. The works of European art are presented by sections devoted to painting, sculpture, graphic art and decorative art. The total number of exhibits is about 20 thousand items. Art section includes more than 700 paintings and icons from 6 to 20. Submitted works represent the classical European painting and the brightest periods of painting schools of Italy, the Netherlands, Flanders, Holland, Spain, France and others. Holdings of a museum consists of nearly 16,000 units of graphic arts. Special Interest group consists of monumental sculpture of ancient Greece and Rome, represented by casting in bronze and plaster, made in the 19th century piece together special group. The students were pleasantly surprised by the interior of the museum, they expressed admiration the work of artists and desired to come there again and again.
