December 10 the world celebrates International Human Rights Day. On this day, documentary film "Children Behind Bars" was presented to students of the Law Institute/ This film was created within the project "Reformation of the criminal justice system for juveniles in Ukraine", with the financial support of the Government of Canada.
The main purpose of such event, organized by the representatives of the Student Council of LI Mahlovana Irina, Alina Demidenko and Victoria Merenkova - to convey to students the concept of freedom, security and integrity of people in relation to one another. The documentary refers to the problem of children in conflict with the law and the changes that occur in the context of the reform of Juvenile Criminal Justice in Ukraine. It also presents the approaches of work with juvenile offenders, based on international standards for juvenile justice systems. Today the problem of increasing acts of offenses among youth is too urgent. In order to prevent juvenile delinquency law students of the Institute advise youth to watch this film "Children Behind Bars", which highlights the problem of the current criminal justice system for juveniles in Ukraine through real stories of boys and girls who are sentenced to imprisonment.
