A greetings to the participants of the event was addressed by the Director of the Institute, Doctor of Law, Associate Professor, Professor of the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law Iryna Sopilko. "On December 17, 1999, the UN General Assembly announced the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November. Violence against women is not a myth, but a real problem, which even today, in the 21st century, suffers Ukrainian women. According to statistics, about 600 women die each year in Ukraine, "she said. Oleksandra Golub, Head of the League for the Defense of Women's Rights, Harmony of Equal, said that men resort to violence, trying to exert pressure and show their power over women, and physical violence is the most widespread form of domestic violence. During the roundtable, the participants discussed the concept of "violence against women", disclosed the types of violence, analyzed the forms and consequences of psychological and sexual violence against a woman, and identified ways to prevent violence. In addition to touching reports and presentations on the raised issues, representatives of the Student Council recited verses where everyone present was able to feel all the pain and suffering that women suffer from violence. At the end of the event, the Head of the Student Council, Tetiana Lukashenko, also offered to commemorate the Holodomor victims of 1932-1933 with a minute of silence and inflammation of the candle. "Every year on the last Saturday in November Ukraine celebrates the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide of the Ukrainian People in 1932-1933, which took place through the creation of an artificial mass famine, which led to many millions of human losses. Therefore, we must be aware of the scale of losses and avoid such disasters in the future ", - said Tatiana.
