On October 25, 2017, the members of the Students and Postgraduates’ Association of the Educational and Scientific Law Institute met with the head and coordinator of the projects of the Defense of Women's Rights League "Harmony of equals" Oleksandra Vedenieva and Yulia Makarova.
The theme of the meeting – "Sexism in everyday life" – was chosen by lawyers not by chance, because nowadays this negative phenomenon has found its embodiment in advertising, especially as a statement on the domination of a man over a woman, and vice versa, the treatment of women not as persons, but as objects, which you can dispose. "Discrimination on the gender basis is quite common in our everyday life as an act or omission that expresses any distinction, exception or privilege on the basis of sex, if they are aimed to restrict or prevent the recognition, use or implementation of human rights and freedoms for women and men as equals", - said Alexander Vedienjev. Yulia Makarova said during her speech that in order to effectively combat sexist advertising, first of all, a sufficiently high level of culture in society is needed, which would make it unprofitable for advertisers to use such sexist images, socially denouncing them as "anti-advertising". At the end of the meeting, representatives of the Defense of Women's Rights League "Harmony of Equal" urged young people to actively participate in counteracting the manifestations of sexism in Ukraine and the formation of a positive practice of law enforcement in the area of countering gender discrimination.
