18 of October 2017, a congress of Legal Clinics of Kyiv was held on the basis and at the initiative of the "Pro bono" Legal Clinic of the Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University, where a Legal Consultation "Legal Clinic" of the Educational and Research Institute of Law took part.
The main purpose of the gathering was the idea of uniting in order to jointly obtain grants for the promotion and development of legal clinics. The event began with the welcoming speech of deputy dean of the Law Faculty of the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, Olesya Otradnova, who noted the necessity of the development of the clinical movement in Ukraine and in the world. In general, about ten Law Clinics of metropolitan universities participated in the congress, among them: National University of Bioresources and Nature Management, Vadym Hetman Kyiv Economic University, National Academy of Internal Affairs, Academy of Advocacy of Ukraine, University "KROK", National Pedagogical University named after M. P. Drahomanov and others. During the meeting important issues regarding the place and role of legal clinics in the system of human rights protection, specialization of legal clinics, analyzed problem issues of the organization of work of clinics, etc. were considered. Representatives of Legal Clinics expressed their willingness and willingness for further cooperation for the common goal - the creation of a progressive and independent market for providing free legal aid and the promising realization of educational opportunities for students.
