Legal education is essential in educating citizens to respect the law and human rights. This duty of training and education of future legal intellectuals is responsible not only of schools but also of the entire society, all public authorities.
So, on December 20th, 2016 Kyiv Court of Appeals held practical excursion to the work of judges and court staff, halls of court sittings and court museum for students of the Educational and Research Law Institute. At first, participants visited the Museum of Kyiv Court of Appeals, where they had an opportunity to get acquainted with the achievements of national and international legal heritage and history of justice in general and Kyiv Court of Appeals in particular. Guests were met by Olena Zhuravel, the Head of the Department of ensuring access to the court decisions, appeal to their performance and archival work. Just after visiting the museum guests were invited to the conference rooms for meetings with judges-speakers of Kyiv Court of Appeals. During the conversation Olena Lapchevska and Grygorii Usyk, the judges of the Chamber of Civil Affairs, shared their vision of the realities of judicial life. They started with their professional biographical excursion. During the meeting Grygorii Usyk, the secretary of the chamber, judge for civil affairs, told students about the importance and complexity of the judicial system, in particular, focusing on the rules of civil procedure law of Ukraine and the importance of its correct practical application. To improve the training of future specialists, the Kyiv Court of Appeals invited students to the open court meeting considering a civil case. Students enthusiastically watched the real trial. Management of the Kyiv Court of Appeals and Iryna Sopilko, the Director of the Educational and Research Law Institute believe that visiting such “live action” court meetings is an excellent opportunity to gain first professional experience.
