On April 11th, 2016 the meeting of the Mediation Centre was held at the Educational and Research Law Institute. The theme of this event was devoted to the 30 years anniversary of the terrible man-made disaster and huge global environmental woes at Chornobyl NPP.
Yevgeniya Nestula, a student of PR-204 group, in her report researched the causes and consequences of irreparable ecological, medical, social and economic disaster, fatal course of events at the station, the reaction of the Soviet government and the international community to the accident. Separately, the speaker stopped for an example of courage and heroism of the liquidators of the Chornobyl man-made disasters. Kateryna Kolesnyk, a student of PR-201 group, made the overview of the largest nuclear accidents in the world, their causes and consequences, indicating that nuclear power is widely entered to the life of mankind, providing the needs of the global economy in power. However, the probable risk of radiation accidents, hazardous to people and the environment. The speaker noted that scientists call mankind to change approaches to economic development and realize that achieving energy independence is not possible without reducing power consumption, or similar nuclear accident will occur in the future. The event ended with a moment of silence as a sign commemorating people lost their lives as a result of nuclear disasters.
