On the 17th of March, 2016 the students of the groups PR-101, PR-203, PR-204 of Education and Research Institute of Law, accompanied by the tutors Olena Makeieva, Lyudmyla Shapenko, Oksana Myronets visited one of the main symbols of the Ukrainian capital and a prominent monument of defensive architecture of Kievan Rus the Golden Gate.
The Golden Gate belongs to the oldest buildings in Eastern Europe of the first half of the eleventh century, built during the ruling of Grand Prince of Kievan Rus Yaroslav the Wise. Medieval gate had not only defensive value during the attack of the enemy, but also triumphant character for foreign ambassadors, warriors to defend the homeland and meeting of the prince’s army. Nowadays this masterpiece of ancient architecture and fortification is among the seven wonders of modern Kyiv. The square near the Golden Gate is one of the most popular in the city, where the monument to Yaroslav the Wise was built during the years of Ukrainian independence, which is the symbol of wisdom, unique spiritual power and revival of the Ukrainian people. Visiting this historic monument which is the monument of political independence and power of Kievan Rus as a state and Kyiv as its capital has essential value for the formation of national and patriotic ideas and students’ knowledge about creation of the state that are so necessary not only for the future lawyers, but for every conscious Ukrainian.
