Civil society as an important step towards European integration of Ukraine

02 04 2014b bPursuant to the letter of Solomyanskiy District in Kyiv State Administration dated 10.10.2013, the № 108-12644/01 and to commemorate the common European values, common history, strengthening the unity of the new prospects for the development of a united Europe, March 31, 2014 Law Institute held an Interdepartmental roundtable discussion on "Civil Society as an important step towards European integration of Ukraine», devoted to the problems of civil society towards Ukraine's European integration.

Participants of the round table were: Valery Kolpakov - Professor of Administrative Law and Procedure of the National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, Professor; Oleg Oleinik - senior fellow at the Institute of Legislation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Doctor of Law; Vladislav Havlovskyy - senior fellow at the Interdepartmental Research Centre for Combating Organized Crime under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, PhD; Eugene Dovzhenko - Associate Professor of Logistics and Transport Law of NTU, PhD; Natalia Novitsky - assistant professor of civil law courses National University of State Tax Service of Ukraine, PhD, Associate Professor Elena Volkova - Assistant Consultant People's Deputy of Ukraine, PhD; Victor Hevko - disciplinary inspector of the High Qualifications Commission of Judges of Ukraine, PhD, Associate Professor; scholars, educators and students of the Law Institute.
Speakers drew attention to the contemporary issues of the formation and development of civil society, the problems of improving legislation regarding public participation in the discussion of draft legal acts are brought into line with EU law. Important for further scientific work was the question of the legal status of judges, civil servants, officials and policy makers in the current development of new approaches to public participation in forming the government.
As a result, participants of the roundtable discussions have concluded on the need to decentralize government, improving the system of executive power, empowerment of local government, the formation and development of modern civil society, based on the requirements of European legislation.
