On 12 June 2024, as part of the professional introductory practice for the 1st year Bachelor's degree students majoring in 081 "Law" of the Faculty of Law, a meeting with the Deputy of the Kyiv City Council Olesia Pynzenyk was held on the topic "Local governments as an element of the national system of human rights protection".
Olesia Oleksandrivna, as a deputy of the Kyiv City Council, a member of the Standing Committee of the Kyiv City Council on Health, Family and Social Policy and an advisor to the Human Rights Commissioner of the Ukrainian Parliament, shared her experience in the field of human rights protection with the students. The first-year students learned first-hand about the effective mechanisms for the protection of human rights within the competence of local authorities. A lively discussion ensued on a number of issues faced by local authorities in protecting the rights of community residents, particularly in combating illegal construction in Kyiv.
At the end of the meeting, Olesya Pynzenyk thanked the students and faculty of the Law Faculty of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for their active civic engagement, stressing: "Young people are the future of our country and it is very important to see their interest in issues related to our society. I am confident that together we will be able to bring about positive changes in the capital".
