On 31 May 2024, the Forum of the Association of Legal Clinics of Ukraine (ALCU) was held. Legal Consultancy "Legal Clinic" of NAU was represented at this event by legal consultant Alexander Kuts.
This time, delegates from more than 40 legal clinics in Ukraine, as well as ALCU partners - representatives of the Ruel Wallenberg Institute, USAID Justice for All Program, OSCE Project Coordinator, and the network of Free Legal Aid Centres - attended the event, Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, Ukrainian Legal Aid Foundation, Institutional Development Foundation, and the Human Rights Education House in Chernihiv were hospitably hosted by the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy at the Halshka Hulevychivna House Museum.
During the forum, the ALCU Board reported on its activities for 2023, mentioning all the achievements and projects that were implemented during this period. Yulia Lomzhets, the Head of the ALCU, noted that the activities of legal clinics are gradually reaching the level of a full-scale invasion. "Today, 60 clinics have submitted their data to the Register, which provide legal advice, represent clients in court, and provide legal education, combining the social function and the mission of practical training of students", she said.
In addition, the forum included the election of the Chairman and members of the Board of the Association, the admission of five new members to the ULC, and the presentation of amendments to the ULC Charter and Standards for Legal Clinics. The participants of the forum had a great opportunity to meet their colleagues once again and discuss issues important for the legal clinical community, make new acquaintances and consider plans for the future.
