On May 13, 2024, students of the Faculty of Law, specialties 081 "Law" and 262 "Law Enforcement", accompanied by Acting Dean Iryna Sopilko, who is a member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, and Deputy Dean Nina Trotsiuk, visited the constitutional jurisdiction in Ukraine, which ensures the supremacy of the Constitution of Ukraine as the fundamental law throughout Ukraine - the Constitutional Court of Ukraine (CCU).
The event was organized as part of the consolidation of knowledge in the discipline "Constitutional Law of Ukraine".
The excursion began with a visit to the Courtroom and the Press Center of the Court, where the Press Service officers told the students about the history and activities of the single body of constitutional justice, in particular, the procedure for forming the CCU, its powers, peculiarities of constitutional proceedings and forms of appeal to the Court.
The students experienced incredible impressions during the live communication with CCU judges Halyna Yurovska and Viktor Horodovenko in the Courtroom, who spoke about their personal experience as judges, the procedure for organizing work and powers, and provided useful advice to the youth on how to implement them in their future professional activities.
Ms. Yurovska focused the attention of the audience on the Court's decisions that have been recently considered at the sessions and familiarized them with the Decision of the Second Senate of the CCU of 13.05.2024 on the unconstitutionality of certain provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On Court Fees", where she acted as a speaker. "This morning, the Second Senate of the CCU considered the constitutional complaint of citizen Lopushansky V.M. regarding the unconstitutionality of certain provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On Court Fees". Resolving the issues raised in the constitutional complaint, the Court recognized part 2 of Article 3, subparagraph 9 of paragraph 1 of part two of article 4 of the Law of Ukraine "On Court Fee" dated July 8, 2011 No. 3674-VI as amended as inconsistent with the Constitution of Ukraine (unconstitutional) in that they allow for the collection of court fees when filing an appeal and cassation appeal against a court ruling, issued upon consideration of a complaint against decisions, actions or omissions of a state enforcement officer or other official of the state enforcement service or a private enforcement officer in the course of enforcement of a court decision made in accordance with the Civil Procedure Code of Ukraine. You have the opportunity to be the first to learn about this decision, as it has not even been reported in the media yet," the judge said.
During the tour, the students also visited the library, which is equipped with scientific and specialized literature, and the CCU archive, which stores case files on which the Court has made decisions or provided opinions and other materials.
In the museum exposition, visitors viewed exhibits, including souvenirs, medals, books, donated by the constitutional jurisdictions of foreign countries, international organizations, as well as domestic government agencies, judicial institutions, and educational institutions.
We express our gratitude to Judge of CCU Halyna Yurovska for her assistance in organizing the excursion and to the Court employees for their friendly attitude and interesting communication.
