On May 7, 2024, the head of the legal clinic "Phoenix" of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Mykola Maliy, at the invitation of Oksana Panova, professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Process of the Faculty of Law, took part in an online lecture on the topic "Prevention of criminal offenses in the field of civil aviation" as part of the educational disciplines "Criminological prevention of offenses in the aviation sphere".
In addition to the first-year master's students of the specialty 262 "Law enforcement activity" of the National Aviation University, students of the Kyiv University of Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine also joined the lecture.
Mykola Maliy reviewed in detail the criminal proceedings regarding the destruction of the An-225 "Mriya" aircraft, noting: "The "Mriya" aircraft was a super-heavy transport aircraft created in 1988 by the Kyiv Antonov Design Bureau, and by 2022 the An-225 was the largest and most powerful aircraft in world". The speaker stated that the criminal actions of ex-offenders led to the temporary seizure of a strategically important airfield during the battles for the city of Kyiv and the destruction of the AN-225 "Mriya" aircraft. However, as of today, SBU investigators have already finished the pre-trial investigation and sent the indictment to the court.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Mykola noted the high level of preparation of the students of higher education and wished them success in their future professional activities.
