In April 2024, students of academic groups PR-101B, PR-103B, and PR-301B of the Faculty of Law, accompanied by their mentors Lyudmyla Shapenko and Irina Slobodska, visited one of Ukraine's oldest botanical institutions - the Botanical Garden, named after Academician O.V. Fomin of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
This event was organized in celebration of the national environmental holiday, the All-Ukrainian Day of Environment, with the aim of increasing environmental awareness among the younger generation regarding environmental safety and fostering in them a careful attitude towards the delicate and vulnerable environment of our planet.
During the excursion to this significant landmark of landscape art of national importance, students had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with unique plant collections, visit the garden of blooming enchanting magnolias, which was founded in 1976 and counts more than 150 relic giants of various varieties, as well as stroll through alleys of blooming cherry trees and forsythia bushes, creating a unique atmosphere of spring awakening and allowing to feel the boundless potential of our native land.
Also, important for shaping the worldview of the modern generation was the visit to the memorial sculptures located in the botanical garden, including the monument to the prominent Korean poet of the 20th century, Kim So Wol, who celebrated the uniqueness of the Korean people in his works; the monument to the Indian statesman and political leader, national hero Mahatma Gandhi, known for his methods of "satyagraha" and ideas of a peaceful world; the monument to students and teachers who died in 1941 during the defense of Kyiv; and the recently opened sculpture "Strich" in memory of the fallen soldier, Japanese studies student Igor Voyevodin, who died defending Ukraine.
