On April 9, 2024, the head of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure of the Faculty of Law, Sofia Lykhova, together with the employees of the Human Rights Information and Educational Center, conducted a master class on the topic "Rights of a person in the conditions of martial law".
Students were introduced to the procedure for establishing martial law in Ukraine and the restrictions that are introduced during its operation.
"Military command can restrict people's right to free movement. These include the introduction of a curfew, the prohibition or restriction of free choice of residence, a special regime for entry and exit from populated areas, control of means of communication, inspection of belongings, documents, housing, etc. At the same time, there are rights that are not subject to restrictions - this is the human right to life. Also, the following cannot be violated: the right to equality and respect for the dignity of the person, the right to personal integrity, the right to marry, the right to citizenship, the right to a fair trial, legal assistance and protection, the right to housing," Sofiya Lykhova noted during the report .
This topic caused a lively discussion among students, because every citizen of Ukraine must navigate the situation that currently exists in our country and adhere to those restrictions that are necessary and legal today.
