On April 1, 2024, a meeting with Olga Mala, a lawyer of the National Bank of Ukraine, was held for applicants of the bachelor's level of higher education, specialty 081 "Law" of the Faculty of Law.
With the aim of in-depth study of individual topics of the academic discipline "Economic procedural law of Ukraine" and the formation of practical approaches for preparing the position of defense of a party in a court case, students of the 4th year willingly participated in the master class of a practicing specialist of the National Bank of Ukraine.
Mrs. Olga familiarized those present with the legal positions of the Supreme Court, which are important for the cassation review of court decisions in the order of economic proceedings. She paid special attention to "cassation filters" and the justification of cassation appeals, and also shared her own experiences, examples from court proceedings, analyzing typical mistakes typical of novice lawyers when preparing appeals to the cassation instance. For consideration by the audience, the speaker raised debatable issues regarding the role of the Supreme Court in the formation of uniform judicial practice in the same categories/types of economic disputes, as well as the influence of the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) on the cassational review of court decisions in Ukraine.
At the end of the meeting, Olha Mala advised the students to study the judicial practice of the Supreme Court and the practice of the ECtHR and carefully monitor changes in procedural legislation.
Note that this is not the first time that a representative of the National Bank of Ukraine has held interactive classes with students of the Faculty of Law, which is evidence of the faculty's close cooperation with stakeholders and their desire to share experience and transfer knowledge to the younger generation.
