On November 23, 2023, the graduate student of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure of the Faculty of Law, Oleksiy Kovtun, under the supervision of the supervisor, Doctor of Law, Professor Oksana Panova, took part in the 14th All-Ukrainian Scientific and Theoretical Conference "Actual Problems of Criminal Law", dedicated to the memory of the professor P.P. Mykhaylenko
The conference, which was held at the National Academy of Internal Affairs, was attended by scientists from institutions of higher education, as well as scientific institutions, in particular, the Institute of State and Law named after V. M. Koretsky National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, research laboratory on problems of prevention, termination and investigation of criminal offenses by territorial bodies of the National Police of Ukraine, Luhansk State University of Internal Affairs named after E. O. Didorenko and Training Center of Prosecutors of Ukraine. Specialists of the practical divisions of the Criminal Court of Cassation of the Supreme Court, courts of first instance, NABU, and the State Bureau of Investigation also took part in the event.
Within the framework of the event, there was a discussion of problematic issues of the General part of criminal law, which related to the principles of criminal legislation, complicity, the system of punishment, institutions of exemption from criminal punishment, measures of a criminal law nature against legal entities, improvement of the application of the mechanism of early release from life imprisonment, etc. In addition, reports were heard and discussed on issues of priority for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, namely: improvement of the norms of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, criminal offenses against the life and health of a person, against the will, honor and dignity of a person, corruption criminal offenses, criminal offenses against property, in the field of economic activity, public safety, etc.
The information received during the conference will be useful not only in the framework of conducting scientific research at the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure, but also will allow to improve the training of applicants of the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education in the specialty 081 "Law".
