In commemoration of the anniversary of Kherson's liberation, the Associate Professor at the Department of Theory and History of State and Law of the Law Faculty, Svitlana Holovko, conducted a thematic discussion entitled "Reclaiming What's Ours!" with third-year students of the Law program from November 7th-10th.
Reviewing multimedia presentations prepared by the students, the participants recalled the tragic events of Kherson's occupation from March to November 2022. First-year student Diana Chyzhova, a Kherson resident, recounted the horrors she and her family and friends endured in her hometown under occupation. "Kherson residents did not give up; they took to the streets waving Ukrainian flags, held mass rallies against the occupiers, chanted anti-Russian army slogans, sang the National Anthem, because they believed in Ukraine," the freshman emphasized.
The students and instructor reminisced about the major historical moments of Kherson and the rest of the right-bank Kherson region's liberation by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on November 11th. "The blue-yellow banner - the symbol of freedom and the struggle for independence - is waving over the city again," Svitlana Holovko remarked. "Worldwide, the blue-yellow color of our flag epitomizes bravery, independence, democratic values, and the finest qualities inherent in the courageous Ukrainian people. And of course, it is the color of our victory, which our Armed Forces of Ukraine are steadily advancing."
Kherson region can now take pride in its resilience. Even during the terrible days of occupation, Ukrainians here did not give up; they continue fighting for their land and are defeating the enemy step-by-step. Together towards victory! Everything will be Ukraine!
