On November 1, 2023, as part of the discipline "Psychology and Pedagogy in Law Enforcement" for applicants for the second (master's) level of higher education of the OPP "Law Enforcement", the senior inspector of the juvenile prevention sector of the police department of the Vinnytsia District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Vinnytsia region, Vyacheslav Bugayenko, conducted a binary lesson on the topic "Psychology of the offender's personality".
"The personality of the offender is defined as a conscious subject, the bearer of a set of biologically determined and socially determined qualities and properties, whose behavior is determined by the antisocial orientation formed under the influence of certain socio-political, economic, and socio-cultural conditions," the speaker said.
In his speech, Mr. Vyacheslav noted that a teenager can most often commit a crime under the direct influence of peers or adults, obeying the pressure of the crowd. In most minors, negative qualities dominate the personality structure: laziness, weak will, irresponsibility, conformity, and aggressiveness. An important condition for the formation of the personality of a "difficult" teenager is mostly negative family conditions, the alcoholism of parents or relatives, and their immoral behavior. In most cases, the number of juvenile delinquents includes those who have not found themselves on the school team due to conflicting relationships. The antisocial behavior of a minor is thus interdetermined by the influence of many factors, primarily the external social environment, namely the microenvironment, as well as the individual characteristics of the adolescent's personality, which determine his individual response to various "life failures".
After the speech, there was a lively discussion among those present about the conditions for the formation of personality and the factors that affect the illegal behavior of a person.
The knowledge and skills gained during the class will be useful to future specialists in the field of law enforcement.
