On October 27, 2023, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure of the Faculty of Law, Iryna Litvinova, took part in a scientific and practical round table dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Department of Criminal Procedure of the National Academy of Internal Affairs on the topic "Criminal Procedural Law at the Present Stage of Development of Ukraine".
The First Vice-Rector of the National Academy of Internal Affairs, Doctor of Law, Professor, and Honored Lawyer of Ukraine, Police Colonel Stanislav Gusarev, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech, noting: "Scientific and practical discussion of topical issues of criminal justice, its current state, and prospects for development will provide an opportunity to make appropriate changes to the criminal procedural legislation and direct the activities of investigative units, the prosecutor's office, and the court. This scientific event is an important platform for the implementation of new scientific approaches to solving existing problems and preparing scientific research." The topics for discussion were the problematic issues of ensuring human rights in criminal proceedings in the context of decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, the implementation of the function of protection and provision of legal assistance during criminal proceedings, and the prospects for the development of the general doctrine of criminal procedural legislation.
The scientific discussions were joined by: Oleksandra Yanovska, Judge of the Criminal Court of Cassation of the Supreme Court; Vira Mykhailenko, Judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court; Viktoriia Rozhnova, Prosecutor of the Department of Criminal Law Policy and Investment Protection of the Prosecutor General's Office; Larysa Udalova, Doctor of Law, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine; Mykola Shumylo, Professor of the Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminology, Taras Shevchenko, National University of Kyiv, Doctor of Law, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine; and Iryna Hloviuk, Professor of the Department of Criminal Law Disciplines of the Institute of Law of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs.
