On October 5, 2023, students from the academic groups PR-101B and PR-103B of the Law Faculty, accompanied by mentors Lyudmila Shapenko and Irina Slobodska, visited one of the departments of the National Reserve “Sophia of Kyiv” — the Kyrylivska Church.
During the tour, students learned about the uniqueness of this museum-sacral architectural monument from the 12th century, which lies in its exceptional historical and artistic value. After the St. Sophia Cathedral, this is the second temple in the city of Kyiv that has survived since the times of Ancient Rus in its original form. The synthesis of different cultures and painting schools is one of the peculiarities of the artistic decoration of the Kyrylivska Church. The authenticity of the museum-reserve is traced in the monumental painting, which reproduces over 800 square meters of frescoes with unique plots from that time. The works of many Ukrainian artists of the 19th century complete the fullness of the spiritual heritage of the Ukrainian people.
This event allowed students to get acquainted more closely with the cultural heritage of past generations. It also helped them understand the importance of spiritual and ethical development, which is an integral part of every person's cultural life.
