On June 22, 2023, students of the 1st year of the Educational level "Bachelor" of the Faculty of Law together with Iryna Varava, associate professor of the Department of Theory and History of the State and Law, visited the Commercial Court of Cassation as part of the Supreme Court in the city of Kyiv.
The Head of the Department of legal systematization of library and museum activities of the Supreme Court of the Legal Support Department, tour guide Valentyna Shcherbatiuk captivated the students with a meaningful story about the various stages of the formation of this important institution. Future lawyers had the opportunity to delve into the history of the creation of the Court, penetrate the sphere and peculiarities of its activity, immerse themselves in the business atmosphere of the high court and form an understanding of the place of the Cassation Commercial Court in the structure of the Supreme Court.
An important part of the program was a meeting with the judges: Doctor of Law Nadia Bagai and Candidate of Law Yury Chumak. Distinguished judges shared with the students their work experience, various aspects of the court's activity, its functions, powers and scope, as well as the features of a judge's everyday life. The students, in turn, initiated the discussion of such topics as: "Peculiarities of court activity during martial law", "Personal and professional qualities that a judge should have", "Essence of the principle of collegial consideration of cases" and others.
The final stage of the tour was a visit to the library (or archive) of the Commercial Court of Cassation, where the students were able to summarize all the information they had received and write a positive and sincere review of the tour.
This event gave first-year students the opportunity to get to know the work of the Cassation Commercial Court in general, to form a certain professional outlook on the work of the higher court, to deepen their knowledge of the field of law and to gain practical experience of communication with professionals in the field of jurisprudence.
