On June 16, 2023, the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law of the Law Faculty organized a meeting of 1-2 year students of the Bachelor's degree with attorney Natalia Sergienko.
Describing her professional journey from a young paralegal, Natalia emphasized that one should always move forward and improve their knowledge. "Continuous improvement of legal knowledge makes it much easier to pass the bar exam," she said.
Ms. Nataliia told the students about advocacy and its types, areas of practical skills acquisition during the internship with a lawyer, and gave interesting examples from her practical work. It was noted that when solving specific tasks, special attention is paid to the analysis of the provisions and practice of applying international human rights and rule of law instruments, in particular, the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the case law of the European Court of Human Rights.
The discussion of students' questions provoked a lively debate, for example: "Is it difficult to start working as an attorney?", "What kind of experience is needed?", "Have you ever had to refuse a client to file a lawsuit?", "Can an attorney advise other attorneys?", "What issues are most often addressed to attorneys nowadays?".
The lawyer emphasized that it is important to acquire new knowledge every day and to be able to grow professionally. Student internships are also of great importance in this regard.
The students, in turn, shared with the guest their impressions of their internships in state and local government bodies, which is an integral part of the process of training legal personnel in higher education institutions and is designed to provide training of highly qualified specialists capable of independently and at a high professional level to provide legal support and protection of the rights and legitimate interests of aviation entities in Ukraine and abroad.
