On June 13, 2023, as part of the professional introductory practice, the Department of Theory and History of the State and Law organized an excursion to the High Anti-Corruption Court for students of the first year of study of the Faculty of Law.
Visiting a specialized court in the judicial system of Ukraine, which began to administer justice on September 5, 2019, the first-year students, accompanied by the Head of the Department Olena Makeeva and Associate Professor of the Department Veronika Oleshchenko, had the opportunity to work on their acquired theoretical knowledge in the field of human rights protection.
Bohdan Kryklyvenko, the Head of the High Anti-Corruption Court Department, gave a tour of the court premises, gave the students the opportunity to visit the courtroom, familiarized them with the history of the creation of the specialized court, the features of its activities and the specifics of the cases under its jurisdiction. "The Higher Anti-Corruption Court is the first instance in Ukraine that introduced online court sessions even before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and the russian invasion. We use modern technical means in the judicial process, highlighting our activities through various social networks, thereby implementing the principle of openness of judicial bodies," Bohdan Kryklyvenko emphasized.
Students also had the opportunity to talk with judges of the Court Vitaly Kryklyv and Kateryna Shiroka. The conversation with current judges was very informative for applicants, as it contained a lot of information about the peculiarities of judicial work. The students were impressed by the judges' openness and their sincere stories about their personal path to the VAKS bench. "Read books, learn different languages, study, get "keys" for future opportunities now, because after university, you won't have enough time for this," advised Kateryna Shiroka.
No less valuable was the advice from Vitaly Kryklyvy, who noted that "Corruption is the worst thing that can happen with society, state and peoples. Ukraine has great potential for development. Overcoming corruption is the right way for our state to flourish at the international level, therefore today's task, both ours and yours as future specialists, is the formation of a strong, democratic and legal state with the rule of law."
On behalf of the National Aviation University, we express our gratitude to the management and judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court for their cooperation and promotion of the legal culture of students, which will certainly affect the further path of their personal professional development.
