On June 12, 2023, at the Faculty of Law, as part of the professional introductory practice, 1st-year students of the educational specialty"Bachelor", lawyer Oleksandra Paramonova, held a master class on the topic "Protection of citizens' rights under the legal regime of martial law".
Miss Oleksandra expertly explained to the applicants such concepts as: human rights, the European Court of Human Rights, cultural relativism, compared the concepts of "intentional murder" and "war crime", and also drew the attention of those present to genocide as a legal concept, clearly distinguishing it with the concept of "mass murder".
Having extensive work experience in jurisprudence, including 8 years in the prosecutor's office and 7 years as a lawyer, the lawyer shared with students of higher education her practical experience in protecting human rights in criminal proceedings, including in the conditions of the legal regime of martial law. The human rights defender analyzed the problems that hinder the real protection of human rights in Ukraine in court (Article 615 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Special regime of criminal proceedings under martial law)" and noted the need to reform the current legislation.
Students of higher education actively participated in the discussion of pressing issues, among which a special discussion was caused: "Russia in the UN?", "How to protect human rights in wartime?", "International tribunal - will it be created?", "How to adapt to life in war conditions?".
Concluding her speech, Oleksandra Paramonova called on future lawyers to cooperate, take an active life position and initiate changes in the current legislation of Ukraine.
