On November 14, the second stage of the national Road Safety Week started in Ukraine, which is devoted to road safety issues under martial law.
Within the framework of the Week, on November 17, 2022, lawyer Oleksiy Meshe held a lecture for applicants for higher education at the Faculty of Law on the topic "Road Safety under Martial Law".
The goal is to draw the attention of higher education students to the problems of injuries and mortality on Ukrainian roads.
During the lawyer's lesson, the systems and mechanisms of pre-trial investigation of criminal offenses in the field of transport operation were considered, special attention was paid to judicial practice, namely the resolutions of the Plenum of the Supreme Court in cases of violation of traffic rules, in accordance with the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses. Students' attention is also focused on the stages of investigating traffic accidents, establishing the guilt of drivers and pedestrians who are full-fledged road users, conducting examinations and committing actions by road service employees.
"Pedestrians should carry flashlights or other reflective stripes or marks during a power outage in the dark. This is done so that drivers can see pedestrians and respond to them in a timely manner," said Mr. Oleksiy.
Road Safety Weeks in Ukraine, which take place twice a year, are one of the largest information and educational platforms to draw public attention to the problems of road traffic injuries in the country.
