In December 2022, a meeting was held at the Faculty of Law for students of specialties 262 «Law enforcement» and 081 «Law" with the practical psychologist of the private school "Astor school», Valeriya Skopych, who currently works as a volunteer, providing psychological support to the military and civilian population.
«The events in Ukraine due to the full-scale invasion of Russia will have critical consequences for mental health, and the war will have a significant impact on the mental state of people. Therefore, at the Faculty of Law, great attention is paid to the psychological support of students in the conditions of the legal regime of martial law. In order to effectively help all those who experienced the consequences of psychologically traumatic events, to study the impact of military actions on the psyche of student youth among students of the faculty in October-November 2022, an anonymous survey "Mental health of youth in conditions of martial law" was conducted, and its results and directions for further psychological support for education seekers were discussed at the meeting of the Academic Council of the faculty», said the head of the Department of Theory and History of the State and Law, Olena Makeeva, at the beginning of the meeting.
During the event, Valeriya Skopych conducted psychological training «Psychological aspects of the formation of a student's personality in the socio-cultural environment of the university», gave practical advice on overcoming anxiety and preserving the vitality of the individual in the conditions of military operations, talked about emotional burnout during the war and methods of self-regulation of the personality. The practical psychologist also provided comprehensive answers to the students' questions, in particular, regarding the fight against stress, explained the stages of stress and emphasized the importance of forming stress resistance to the events in which we found ourselves.
In order to assess the mental state of higher education students, Mrs. Valeria offered a number of psychological exercises for quick recovery of own functions, stress relief and self-help during a stressful situation. After all, stress resistance is an important guarantee of maintaining mental health.
Such measures are necessary, because in the conditions of war, young people face traumatic events, which cannot help but reflect on their mental state and the quality of education. Therefore, in order to provide psychological assistance to students, the faculty conducts methodological seminars for mentors and heads of academic groups, meetings with psychologists, trainings, individual consultations, questionnaires, etc.
