On December 15, 2022, the Faculty of Law held a methodical seminar for interns and heads of academic groups on the topic «Formation of the system of European values of modern youth».
The following took part in the event: acting dean Volodymyr Nikitin, head of the All-Ukrainian public organization Center «Development of Democracy» Ella Lamakh, deputy dean for educational and organizational work Nina Trotsyuk, head of the Department of Theory and History of the State and Law, senior mentor Olena Makeіeva, mentors and heads of groups.
«Today, Ukraine is gradually transforming into a people-centered democratic state with a European scale of values and the responsibility of citizens for everything that happens in the country. However, the implementation of the European choice is possible only with the value consolidation of society», - noted acting dean, opening the seminar.
During the methodological seminar, the following issues were considered: the concept and essence of basic European values, including respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, respect for human rights; value orientations of modern youth; human rights in the system of European values; freedom as a European value and others. The participants also discussed the problems of forming value orientations of modern youth, as a result of which the role of European values in the educational process was outlined.
«European values will become an effective component of an effective educational process (a system of value orientations of an individual), if: the content of education is established in accordance with the European context; to enrich the content of basic educational subjects with valuable knowledge and meanings, information about European democratic achievements, values and ideals; to harmonize national and pan-European components; to form the necessary competences for living in the European community, etc.,» Ella Lamakh, head of the All-Ukrainian public organization Center «Development of Democracy», noted in her speech.
Summarizing the discussed issues, the mentors stated that the natural entry of Ukraine into the Eurospace will contribute to the formation of pro-European thinking among Ukrainian youth, the disposition to build a European state, the rethinking and reassessment of values, the rejection of false, non-Ukrainian mentality, acquired as a result of a long stay in a foreign culture.
