On December 19, 2022, the final meeting of the scientific group "Actual Issues of Intellectual Property Law" was held online at the Faculty of Law, the participants of which are applicants for the higher education of 2-4 courses.
The head of the group, Valeriia Filinovych, discussed with the participants the topic “Copyright protection for text materials”.
“Today, the Internet is the environment in which most young people live: communicate, work, build relationships and, of course, create. Also on the World Wide Web, users can upload, store, and distribute information materials, among which there are works protected by copyright. That is why today's youth should be guided not only by Internet trends but also by the rights and obligations of the right holders of the relevant objects because nowadays the availability and prevalence of the Internet network significantly contributes to the growth of relevant offenses, ”said the teacher.
During the meeting, the audience was provided with the author's list of actions to counteract copyright infringement and the features of bringing violators to legal liability were disclosed.
Discussing this topic, a lively debate arose among students about the need to protect works in the digital environment. Opinions were divided - some considered it necessary to bring copyright infringers on the Internet to justice, as well as there were people who believed that everything posted on the Web should be freely used.
Summing up the results of the work for the first term of 2022-2023 Valeriia Filinovych wished fruitful work to young scientists in the next term.
