On November 30, 2022, Iryna Litvinova and Diana Maistro, professors of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure of the Faculty of Law, together with the Shevchenkivska District State Administration in the city of Kyiv, held a legal lecture on the topic: "Combating domestic violence" for students of the Kyiv Industrial College via video conference.
"It can be confidently stated that domestic violence is an interdisciplinary problem of law, health care, psychology, pedagogy, sociology. Its consequences are a heavy burden on society. And the significant prevalence of violence in modern Ukrainian families is often associated with the inability of many of them to independently end violent relationships and solve life problems. In this connection, there is a need to involve state mechanisms for combating domestic violence. Specialists from many areas of legal activity are involved in this process: police officers, prosecutors, lawyers, judges," said the organizers.
During the legal lecture, students' attention was focused on the following questions: How to organize timely and professional training of future lawyers of law enforcement agencies regarding the knowledge and ability to evaluate this phenomenon? How to identify the determinants of domestic violence? What is the algorithm of actions in case of its detection? Who can I turn to for help? How are problematic issues related to the prevention of domestic violence solved in practice?
The annual cooperation of the Faculty of Law and the Shevchenkivska district state administration in the city of Kyiv in the framework of educational activities ensures not only the awareness of young people about their rights, but also increases the general level of legal culture of the younger generation.
