On September 29, 2022, Valeriia Filinovych, Associate Professor of the Civil Law and Trial Department of the Faculty of Law, held a workshop for 9th grade students of the I. Sikorsky Aerospace Lyceum of the National Aviation University on the topic: “Information hygiene in wartime: how to resist fakes”.
“Every person has the right to freedom of thought and speech, as well as the free expression of his views and beliefs. In the context of the fight against COVID-19 in the world, as well as the armed aggression of the Russian Federation that has been going on for more than 8 years, disinformation directly threatens human health and life. However, every society that deliberately misleads should be aware of the legal consequences of creating and spreading disinformation,” Valeriia Filinovych said starting the event.
The next stage of the workshop was an excursion into the sphere of formation and counteraction to propaganda. Separately, the lecturer dwelled on the issue of safe sources of information, the concept of fact-checking and how not to become a victim of information manipulation.
Such measures are really needed in the current difficult time, when the enemy is trying by all possible means, including using information weapons, to harm our State. Information hygiene awareness will help young people to better navigate the choice of information, increase their consciousness, awareness and protect them from the negative consequences of hostile propaganda.
