The event was attended by: Dean of the Law Firm Irina Sopilko, Director of the Department monitoring of social rights of the Secretariat of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Human Rights Svetlana Glushchenko, Head of the Department of the Right to Education and Culture Department for Monitoring Social Rights of the Secretariat of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada Council of Ukraine for Human Rights Olena Mitseruk, Head of the Legal Assistance Sector awareness of the population of the Secretariat of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Human Rights Оlena Antonova, Director of the Information and Educational Center for Human Rights law firm Оlena Makeіeva, scientific and pedagogical workers and applicants for higher education.
«The Ombudsman Institute in Ukraine occupies an important place in the system of constitutional state bodies, being an independent and necessary legal institution in the national system of human rights protection Considering the military situation in Ukraine, an urgent issue, which confronts society today is the proper protection of the rights of Ukrainian military personnel», said Dean Irina Sopilko in her opening speech.
Employees of the Secretariat of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights told the audience about the structure and powers of the ombudsman institution, which created to exercise parliamentary control over the observance of constitutional rights and freedoms of man and citizen, provided statistical data on the results monitoring of human rights and their violations in the context of Russian aggression Also students learned about the mechanism of applying to the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights and Protection of Rights man under the legal regime of martial law There was an interesting discussion about practical problems of protecting the rights and freedoms of man and citizen in Ukraine, during which applicants for education actively asked questions, which showed a high level of theoretical and practical legal knowledge.
Such events contribute to raising the level of legal awareness and legal culture future lawyers who will be able to ensure the real approval of the system of legal values based on the principles of democracy, the rule of law and respect human rights, the development of future lawyers as professionals in their field protection of human rights.
