On 29 April 2022, members of the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law of the Faculty of Law participated in an online cybersecurity workshop as part of the conference "Consequences of War: Rethinking the Future of Civil Society" organised by the Centre for Democracy and the Rule of Law and the Civil Society Sector Support Initiative.
The speakers were Mariana Yatsyshyn, communications and digital security consultant, SAFETAG auditor, and Alina Jelevterova, digital security consultant of Digital Security Labs.
"The aim of the workshop is to strengthen participants' ability to use devices safely and protect personal data by providing them with the necessary topical information and practical tools," said the trainers. To achieve this goal, Alina and Mariana talked about how to protect:
own communications via phone conversations and messengers;
data on smartphones, flash drives, laptops;
websites and personal social networks.
The counsellors also shared the secret of how to prepare their devices for checks at roadblocks and how to transmit photos and videos safely.
All information, including personal data, is an extremely valuable resource and must be protected at a high level, especially in times of war. All participants were once again convinced of this, gaining useful information that they will be able to apply in their daily lives.
