Pursuant to the letter of the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine dated 26.11.2021 №14402.2/21/25.3 and in the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation, on December 8, 2021 third-year students of the Faculty of Law together with researchers and teachers took part in a video conference representatives of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights.
The event was organized on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day and in order to implement and disseminate information about the activities of the Office of the Ukrainian Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights. “Educational activity is one of the key tasks in the activity of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, which is aimed at raising the legal awareness of citizens. It is significant that our event is dedicated to the International Human Rights Day, because one of the main functions of the Ombudsman in the world is to monitor the activities of executive and other public authorities by reviewing complaints of citizens against the actions of certain bodies or officials. freedoms of man and citizen. During the eleven months of work, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine received 61,000 appeals from citizens of Ukraine, mainly concerning violations of socio-economic rights, information rights, violations of rights in court, violations of privacy, violations arrests on bank accounts, etc. We are preparing a report on the work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Commissioner for Human Rights, which will be freely available to the public, "said Olena Stepanenko, a representative of the Commissioner for Social and Economic Rights.
