From November 19 to 26, 2021, the Faculty of Law hosted an online marathon of presentations dedicated to the victims of the Holodomor - Genocide of 1932-1933 in Ukraine.
The day of remembrance falls on the fourth Saturday of November in accordance with the decree of the President of Ukraine of November 26, 1998 “On the establishment of the Day of Remembrance for the victims of famines and political repressions”. Every year, the whole world commemorates the millions of victims of one of the greatest genocides in human history.
The event was attended by researchers and pedagogical students and first and third year students of the Faculty of Law. While watching multimedia presentations prepared by students, the participants of the online marathon recalled the horrific events of 1932-1933. Special detachments of Soviet security forces confiscated all grain supplies from Ukrainian peasants, thus dooming the people to starvation. The traditional Ukrainian way of life was destroyed. The famine became a weapon of mass biological extermination of Ukrainians, disrupting the genetic fund of the people for many decades and leading to moral and psychological changes in people's minds.
The main motive of the marathon was the expression of grief for the victims and the belief that in the future such tragedies will not be repeated on Ukrainian soil.
Let's not forget: “The age-old star will blossom from a small grain of hope; the name of Ukraine will not fade as long as our memory is alive!”.
