Prior to the International Day of Smoking Cessation, on November 26, 2021, the Student Council of the Faculty of Law held a round table on "Youth Against Tobacco".
Opening the event, Sofia Tkachuk, Head of the self-governing student organization, noted that as of 2021, the smoking situation among Ukrainian youth is very threatening. According to recent surveys, more than 30% of young people already smoke classic / flavored / electronic cigarettes or the latest developments, such as electric tobacco products. Research shows that a significant portion of the younger generation is unaware of the true health consequences and development of drug addiction to the use of electronic smoking devices.
Reports were made by: student of PR-102B Olga Slutska (topic "History of smoking"), Karina Simonovich (PR-104B) ("Statistics of smoking in Ukraine"), Julia Shulga (PR-201B) ("The impact of tobacco on the body human "), Anastasia Kutinskaya (PR-201B) (" Harmfulness of electronic cigarettes and vapes "). Vladislava Krutas showed the video "It's a pity smoking. How does smoking really kill? ” and provided statistics on fires caused by cigarette butts.
Summing up the round table, the Head of the Student Council of the Faculty Sofia Tkachuk published the results of a poll conducted in November among students of the Faculty. To the question "How do you feel about smoking cigarettes?" Of the 122 students, 62% said no, 21% said only e-cigarettes, and 17% said no. The survey data is impressive, as it is an indicator of a conscious and reasonable attitude of young people to their health.
