On November 25, 2021, members of the Scientific Society of Students and Postgraduates of the Faculty of Law held a Roundtable on "Human rights are a basic social value."
Every year in November, International Children's Day and International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women are celebrated, and on December 10, Human Rights Day. Therefore, the participants of the SSSP of Law Faculty decided to hold an event in which to combine all three of these events. "Despite the fact that the topic of human rights is addressed repeatedly during each year, its discussion does not lose its relevance. Every day it is worth talking about a person, about his personality, about his freedom, because it is no secret to anyone, everything that is kept secret remains out of society's attention", opening the event, said the Chairman of the SSSP ViktoriiaKyrychenko.
The participants of the event analyzed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as the main source of constitutional law, defined the role of the VerkhovnaRada Commissioner for Human Rights as a guarantor of human rights and freedoms, discussed the mechanism of ensuring and protecting children's rights, highlighted the latest human rights vision introduction of artificial intelligence in public life, the issue is revealed gender equality and combating violence against women. Special attention is paid to the issue of human rights violations in Muslim countries: states with American and Romano- German legal system and states with a legal system of the religious type.
"Such measures will never lose their relevance, because as long as human rights exist, there will be a need to support them. Talking about rights means protecting rights, exercising and securing them,”said Anastasiia Maidachevska, a member of the SSSP.
