On November 11, 2021, Valeriya Filinovych, Associate Professor of the Department of Civil Law and Procedure of the Faculty of Law, took part in the 12th Ukrainian Internet Governance Forum (IGF-UA-2021), the purpose of which is to enhance cooperation between stakeholders in the field of Internet governance in Ukraine.
Valeria Filinovych made a report on the legal protection of personal data, which is especially important for our state in the period of digital transformations and the reality of the Covid-19 pandemic. “Today, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is considering draft law No. 5628, the purpose of which is to improve the current legislation in the field of personal data protection, which does not yet fully ensure adequate protection on the Internet in the light of international standards. It is necessary for the near future to introduce measures to increase the confidence of Internet users in Ukraine, ”the speaker noted and provided this report with her recommendations on this issue.
During a lively discussion, issues of cybersecurity and human rights, the introduction of the latest technologies and artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, the protection of digital human rights, Ukraine's approach to the EU's Single Digital Market, and trends in the development of Internet governance were considered. Participants also discussed standards in the field of cybersecurity, the impact of politics on the Internet and technical solutions in this worldwide system of interconnected computer networks, and other issues of the development of Internet governance.
The forum participants concluded that it is impossible to manage the Internet without an appropriate legislative framework, as well as without collective responsibility and mutually beneficial cooperation of the relevant authorities, representatives of business, and the academic community.
