The urgent problem facing Ukrainians and the world today is labor migration as a form of labor slavery and human trafficking. The issue is actively addressed by The A 21 Compaign, an international non-governmental organization that advocates for victims of trafficking and slavery, and conducts extensive public activities with law enforcement, the legislature and the executive bodies.
Thus, on November 27, 2021, the international non-governmental organization "The A 21 Compaign" held a webinar for law students, where they solved practical problems that gave them the opportunity to master the mechanism of liberation from slavery, as well as watched videos that provide recommendations on slavery and treatment of persons enslaved.
During the event, the coordinator of preventive work Yulia Sashenko outlined the main goals of the organization, which are: prevention of human trafficking, support and protection of victims, bringing criminals to justice and strengthening legal measures in relation to human trafficking and more. The public figure analyzed the legal norms in the field of combating trafficking in human beings (Law of Ukraine "On Combating Trafficking in Human Beings", Article 149 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
"Among the issues related to the protection of victims of human trafficking, it is important to create the status of such persons. In accordance with decentralization processes, this authority is vested in regional and local service bodies. The social issues of assistance to victims of all types of slavery are the appointment of a separate type of social benefits, as well as the provision of free legal aid (primary and secondary), "said Yulia Sashenko.
Nadiya Osipyak emphasized that labor migration is the main type of labor slavery for Ukrainians. The main types of trafficking abuse are blackmail, misleading, etc., so The A 21 Compaign constantly offers and substantiates methods of verifying the legality of traffickers' actions.
