In September 2021, the fourth cycle of online lectures on aviation and space law by Professor of the University of Cologne Stefan Hobe for NAU law students took place.
Dr. Hobe is Director of the Institute of Air and Space Law at the University of Cologne (Germany) and a European educational leader in space law. In 2010, Dr. Stefan Hobe received an award from the International Academy of Cosmonautics for his book The Cologne Commentary on Space Law, Volume 1) in the Best Book of the Year nomination. In addition, Professor Hobe is Director Emeritus of the International Institute of Space Law, member of the Board of Directors of the European Center for Space Law, Rapporteur of the Space Law Committee of the International Legal Association, member of the Management Committee of the European Air Law Association and member of the Group of Legal Experts of the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization.
Professor Hobe shared with the students and teachers of the Law Faculty (LF) of NAU the most modern theoretical and practical achievements in the field of aviation and space law.
During the lectures, the students had the opportunity to supplement their knowledge of space and aviation law, to study in-depth the terminology and evolution of the development of aviation law, the international legal order of activities in the field of outer space and air space, to discuss the prospects for improving international and national space and air legislation.
In the course of communication with the professor, the students expressed a wish to continue working on the problems of universal and regional institutionalized cooperation in space activities.
The problems are considered quite complex and in demand, both for the modern society in general, and the students of the aviation institution of higher education, in particular. Undoubtedly, the lectures given by a foreign expert provided an opportunity for everyone to better understand and master the new European methods of teaching academic disciplines.
We express our sincere gratitude to Professor Hobe for his cooperation with the university.
