On February 20, 2021, on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of the Celestial Hundred, the Department of Economic, Air and Space Law of the Faculty of Law together with a representative of the legal community held a webinar for third-year law students on "Honoring the heroism of the Revolution of Dignity Hundreds".
Speakers at the event were Iryna Timush, Head of the Department of Commercial, Air and Space Law, and Andriy Shabalin, Lawyer of Lex Consulting Ukraine, who discussed in detail the bitter turning points in the recent history of our country, which began with the winter events on Maidan 2013-2014. In honor of the courage, strength of spirit and resilience of citizens who gave their lives during these events by the Decree of the President of Ukraine of 11 February 2015 № 69/2015 "On honoring the heroism of the Revolution of Dignity and perpetuating the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred" 20 February is recognized as the Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, which has been celebrated annually since then.
Future lawyers also joined the discussion, emphasizing that the Revolution of Dignity was the largest protest of modern Ukrainian citizens who fought for their rights and democratic European choice. Since then, the main unifying values of most Ukrainians have been dignity, freedom, courage, unity and honor, which are not just words but ideals of democracy, guarantees of human rights and freedoms, and prospects for Ukraine’s European future.
The Revolution of Dignity is undoubtedly a defining historical event for Ukraine and a key element of state-building processes, and its heroes are the personification of self-sacrifice, willpower and national spirit, which determine the irreversibility of the European path of state and legal institutions.
