On December 18, 2020, the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure of the Faculty of Law held a scientific and practical round table on the topic: "Application of European standards in criminal law and the process of Ukraine."
The scientific-practical round table was attended by representatives of higher education institutions, state and public organizations, including: Anna Skrypka - Member of the Public Council at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, Deputy Chairman of the NGO "Alliance of Ukrainian Unity"; Borys Leonov - Chief Research Fellow of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Special Equipment and Forensic Science, Doctor of Law, Senior Research Fellow; Makar Marchuk - Chief Consultant of the Secretariat of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, Ph.D .; Mykola Maliy - director of the law firm "AUR-CONSULTING"; Oleksandra Yanchuk - lawyer, director of Bonum law firm, Ph.D., associate professor; Andriy Bakhmach - Lawyer, Managing Partner of Bakhmach & Partners Law Firm; Alexander Rastorguev - lawyer, head of the Law Office of Rastorguev Alexander; scientific and pedagogical workers and applicants for higher education of the Faculty of Law.
During the meeting the problematic issues of criminal law and the process of Ukraine were discussed taking into account the implementation of European norms and standards, in particular the practical aspects of the use of European standards in the field of criminal law by the Constitutional Court of Ukraine were discussed; detention of convicts in places of imprisonment; introduction of international experience in guaranteeing legal protection to whistleblowers; the impact of changes in the reform of copyright and related rights on the practice of criminal law.
Based on the results of the scientific event, the participants offered appropriate proposals for improving the rules of criminal law and procedure of Ukraine, and decided to publish scientific articles on their speeches in the professional journal "Legal Bulletin" Air and Space Law".
