On October 12, 2020, in cooperation with stakeholders-employers, Sofia Lykhova, Head of the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure, organized a meeting of students of the PR-301b academic group of the Faculty of Law with a lawyer, media lawyer, head of the legal department of the Oxia Regional Press Institute.
During the meeting they discussed problematic aspects of legal support in the media space of Ukraine, the formation of public opinion through the media, as well as compliance with legal standards and principles of journalism in Ukraine, in particular in conducting investigative journalism.
The students also focused on improving legal and institutional national mechanisms for the protection of journalists' rights, taking into account the case law of national courts in protecting the interests of media workers and the established case law of the European Court of Human Rights on interim measures under Rule 39 of the Rules of Court.
The results of this event once again demonstrate that the scientific ties between the Institute of Regional Press Development and the Faculty of Law enable future lawyers to always be aware of current achievements in the field of human and civil rights protection in the global information environment.
