On December 5-6, 2019, within the framework of career guidance work, associate professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Law Faculty Iryna Litvinova held legal lectures for students of grades 10-11 of the Ukrainian College. V. Sukhomlinsky of Kyiv on the topic: "Legal education of young people in modern conditions" and students of the 10th grade of specialized school № 192 with the Russian language of study in Kiev on the topic: "Criminal liability of adolescents".
The need for lectures is conditioned by the development of the rule of law, the existence of which is impossible without the appropriate level of legal culture of its citizens, the transformation of the legal system, the need to overcome legal nihilism and legal illiteracy.
During the legal lectures, the legal culture of young people, which enriches their spiritual life, was considered and discussed, and their knowledge of their rights and responsibilities enhances their self-realization.
"Now the students lack legal knowledge and experience of legal relations, they must learn the laws that regulate their social relations as minors, and legal rules that they will have to be guided in the future," - said Irina Litvinova.
These measures are intended to promote the formation of adolescents' consciousness by specifying the norms of morality and law regarding their direct behavior, and to form an understanding of responsibility for their own actions and their consequences.
At the end of the event there was an active fruitful discussion on practical preventive work on combating criminal offenses.
