Canadian judge Maurice Golden and American lawyer Edward Marks together with law students held an interesting lecture-discussion on the topic: «Features of the interrogation of a witness in court». Discussion issues discussed at the lecture: features of direct and cross-examination in court in Ukraine, Canada and the United States, the specifics of checking the testimony of a witness, chess interrogation, that is, simultaneous interrogation of several already questioned witnesses in order to clarify discrepancies in their testimony, the possibility of re-examination of a witness, etc. During the lesson, students received information and practical advice on the features of the treatment of witnesses during a trial in the United States and Canada, on the features of the interrogation of a child witness in the courtroom, on the choice and application of means, techniques and forms of behavior with a child witness, and so on. Maurice Golden and Edward Marks actively engaged students in dialogue, during which they willingly exchanged views on the designated issues. At the end of the lecture, the future lawyers expressed gratitude for an interesting lesson based on the practical experience of foreign experts, and a constructive discussion. |
