On October 15, 2019, in the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the NAU and the Levitt Institute for International Development (USA), a binary lecture was held for students of the Law Faculty - by Michael Gilmore, an employee of the Attorney Civil Affairs Service of Idaho State and Richard Muggleby, prosecutor of the Environmental Law Enforcement Division Los Angeles County (USA).
The binary lecture was held in the form of a dialogue between two practicing lawyers by presenting their views on the importance of legal skills in public speaking. Lecturers convincingly proved that in the USA it is impossible to carry out any type of legal activity without knowledge and understanding of the characteristics of communication and the mechanisms of influence of one person on another. The speakers noted that legal activity requires the use of oratory knowledge to influence both people who, for example, fall into the field of legal proceedings (witness, suspect, accused, victim, etc.), and persons directly involved in this type of activity (investigator , prosecutor, judge, lawyer).
During the lesson, the students discussed with the speakers the role of the judge, jury, prosecutor, lawyer in the trial, especially the American criminal process, in particular, the interrogation of the accused, the forced call of witnesses to testify, etc.
For students of the Faculty of Law, such classes are professional training and the study of experience in improving the effectiveness of justice.
