In the framework of the II International Scientific and Practical Conference on the Day of Science "Youth Scientific Legal Forum", on May 16, 2019, the Department of Criminal Law and the Process of the Legal Faculty organized a master class "IT Law as a New Trend and Legal Specialization of the Near Future".
Speakers were Vice President of Legal Affairs Dmitry Ovcharenko and Director of Political and Legal Issues of the IT Association of Ukraine Efrem Laschuk.
"For more than two decades, the world has lived in the information age of its development. Information technology in our time is the key to technical and technological progress in virtually all spheres, and also is a concentrated reflection of the general tendencies of the information revolution of the late XX - early XXI centuries, - said Efrem Laschuk.
The legal field of activity of the IT industry of Ukraine requires the development of a comprehensive legal and regulatory framework for the IT sphere functioning, therefore during the meeting special attention was paid to the issues of ensuring the rights and freedoms of man and citizen, the legitimate interests of society and the state in the field of IT law; organization and activity of the subjects of providing information security; prevention, detection and suppression of offenses (crimes) in the IT sphere; legal issues of the virtual environment; сonsumer rights protection on-line purchase; contractual relations in the field of transfer of intellectual property rights and protection of intellectual property rights on the Internet; responsibility for violating the terms of use of the content; creation of a legal field in the field of labor relations in the IT industry, etc.
Dmitry Ovcharenko also focused students on the peculiarities of the work of lawyers in IT companies.
Conducting such events will help future lawyers not only operate intellectual property in the IT sector, but also structure their business and enter into deals.
