As part of the 5th Global Road Safety Week, which is devoted to the theme of leadership this year and is held under the slogan #SpeakUptoSaveLives, on May 15, 2019, the Public Affairs Officer of the Office of Patrol Police in Kyiv, Senior Lieutenant Oleksandra Ponomary, held a lecture on: "Current issues of safety of road traffic participants".
It is known that the most valuable human treasure is its own life and health. Ignorance or inability to adhere to certain rules often results in loss not only in health but also in life. Every year the intensity of road traffic increases. And this, in turn, raises the responsibility of all road users: drivers, pedestrians, passengers. Therefore, in order to maintain your health and life, you must always adhere strictly to the established rules of the road.
Alexander Ponomariov noted that Ukraine has very low road safety indicators. Over the years of independence on the roads of the country more than 180 thousand people died, 1,3 million people were injured.
"In addition to control, the very consciousness of both drivers and pedestrians is a very important issue. As for the change in the citizens' sense of justice, the police have already held more than 500 meetings to clarify the SDA ", - said the senior lieutenant.
In addition, the inspector noted that the implementation of state policy aimed at creating infrastructure solutions for traffic safety and adoption of legislative changes to strengthen liability for violations of road safety rules will promote compliance with the Road Traffic Rules.
