October 16, 2012 at 15.30 at the Department of Civil and Process of the Law Institute of the NAU it was held scientific seminar on "Consumer Protection (Comparative Study)". The relevance of the event is caused by the increasing role of the institute of consumer protection in public life.
To the work of the scientific-practical seminar were involved: patent attorney of Ukraine, head of department of research of industrial property of the Center of Intellectual Property and Transfer of Technologies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine – Irina Khomenko, Ph.D., executive director of the Association of Judges of Ukraine – Roman Konizhai, attorney, Ph.D., professor, professor of department of theory and management of prosecutor's office activity of National Academy of Prosecutors of Ukraine – Peter Shumsky, lawyer, Ph.D., associate professor, associate professor of department of civil and labor law of Kyiv National Economic University Sergey Vavzhenchuk, Ph.D., associate professor of department of civil disciplines of Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts - Olena Dzyubenko O.L., Ph.D., senior lecturer of department of information systems and technologies of Training-scientific Institute of information security of National Academy of Security Service of Ukraine - Olexander Tikhomirov. During the discussion there were raised the question of the guaranties of consumer rights under European and national legislation, the question of the protection of consumer rights in advertising and on the television and the specific of consumer protection in the sphere of intellectual property and in the sale contracts. The questions of information support of consumer rights according to the norms of applicable legislation raised a lively discussion. During the workshop it was concluded that the problem of consumer protection has long ago gained international importance and is closely related to strengthening of national security and the protection of the rights of its citizens to quality and safe products and services, as well as information about them. Therefore, this subject requires from the state targeted actions to improve the system of protection of fundamental rights in this field. It was also suggested to held relevant thematic lectures for students of non-core departments within the discipline of "Intellectual Property".
